Shayla Holland

Veterinarian

I am from Lake Dallas, Texas in Denton County and am happy to be back in the DFW area. From a very early age, I always wanted to be around animals. My passion for animals and love of the puzzle of medicine led to my pursuit of becoming a veterinarian. My high school years were spent raising livestock in FFA and shadowing at a mixed animal veterinary hospital in Argyle, Texas. I followed my interests to study animal science at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. While there, I became involved in multiple research projects, was a member of the collegiate livestock judging team, and participated in study abroad trips focused on wildlife, livestock, sustainability, and agriculture to Uganda, Guatemala, and Italy. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelors of Science degrees in Animal Science and International Agriculture.

After graduating from Iowa State in 2020, I returned to Texas to attend Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine for my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. In my four years in Aggieland, I was involved in multiple veterinary student organizations and was fortunate to be able to participate in a wildlife conservation medicine study abroad to South Africa. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2024. My veterinary interests include internal medicine, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, preventative medicine, pain management, and senior care.

I share my home with my 13-year-old German Shepherd, Luke, and my 2-year-old German Shepherd, Eir. There will always be a special place in my heart for large breed, working dogs and especially German Shepherds. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, walking my dogs, traveling, reading, and sewing. I am grateful and excited to be here at Colleyville Animal Clinic working with this great team of veterinary professionals! I look forward to helping clients keep their pets happy and healthy for years to come!
