Our Practice

Committed to Patient Care & Client Satisfaction in Colleyville, TX

Colleyville Animal Clinic is a full-service animal treatment center, hospitalization, and boarding facility. We offer boarding, spa days, and surgical services as well. We strive to present a comfortable, friendly environment for clients and pets.

History

Our clinic began as a mixed animal practice working out of a trailer in Colleyville by Dale Hodgson, DVM in the 1970s. Dale built a 2,500 square foot facility later and began treating primarily small animals by the 1980s. Doctors Blick and Wilson graduated in the same 1981 KSU class and worked in veterinary practices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area until purchasing the Colleyville Animal Clinic business from Dale Hodgson in November of 1989. The new practice was set up in the same building, which was leased until the doctors purchased it in 1994. The small animal practice was grown and the building remodeled over the next ten years.

The current facility measures 6,500 square feet and is housed on 1.5 acres of property, all of which was developed in 2004 and has housed the clinical practice since September of that year. The total cost of this construction was approximately $1.3 million, and the larger, more attractive and vastly improved facilities have enabled increased and more efficient services for our clients.

Practice

The focus of service is to maintain thorough, quality medicine with accessibility to the doctors and delegation to qualified and competent support staff. Recheck exams, follow-up calls and consistent labwork monitoring have led to excellent patient care. Dentistry is consistently emphasized with two dental months each year and discounts offered throughout the year to encourage dental prophylaxis. Surgeries include mandatory pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids, vitals monitoring, and pain medication. Follow-up calls and rechecks following anesthetic procedures are routine. The vaccination schedule emphasizes core vaccines and recommendations are tailored to the exposure and vaccine reaction risk of the individual patient where appropriate. Boarding and bathing are considered essential to the traffic of patients and cleanliness of the patients. We do not offer grooming other than as needed for health concerns. The doctors routinely refer cases to specialists in the DFW area and see them as an extension of the quality of care available to our patients and clients.

What Makes Us Special

Our staff and their commitment to excellence in medicine and service for the clients and patients make Colleyville Animal Clinic the premier veterinary care center in the metroplex. Our employees are integrally involved with the management decisions affecting patient care and the quality of our product and services. We involve them completely in the hiring process and training of newly hired employees. To aid in team building and team morale, we have a weekly two-hour staff meeting with lunch provided. This has proven to greatly increase staff rapport and communication of routine information as well as updates in the practice.

The doctors as well express and attempt to live as an example to the staff of integrity, commitment and responsibility to their work. We think that, with a foundation of character within our staff, we have the ability to deliver high-quality health care, not just health information.
